Concorde Capital founder’s country home burns down in Chernihiv Oblast

The country home of Concorde Capital investment company founder Ihor Mazepa, suspected by the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) of fraud, burned down in Chernihiv Oblast on Jan. 22, the company’s press service told NV, providing some photos of the aftermath.

The blaze reportedly began at 3:30 a.m.

The family home, located in Mazepa's hometown of Kartovetske, was registered under his mother's name.

Ihor Mazepa, founder and CEO of the Concorde Capital investment company, has been placed in pre-trial detention with bail set at UAH 350 million ($9.3 million), as stipulated in a Jan. 19 court ruling.

Mazepa was arrested on Jan. 18, when he was crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border on his way to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos. Police also detained two other people suspected of the unlawful privatization of land for real estate development near Kyiv.

Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigations alleged that Mazepa orchestrated a plan to illegally seize land previously used by the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant.

NV Business sources previously reported that Mazepa’s detention is linked to having obtained land rights to build the Goodlife Park cottage town in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv Oblast.
