Condo for sale in Denver ‘has potential’ — but there’s a huge catch that comes with it
A one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo that is for sale in Denver, Colorado, comes with a giant caveat that may turn some potential buyers away.
Listed for $252,000, the 567-square-foot Capitol Hill apartment “has potential” according to the listing on Zillow.com, but be warned, there are also “some issues.”
“Due to methamphetamine contamination, it has been tagged by the City & County of Denver,” the listing says. “There is an ORDER TO VACATE/ACCESS RESTRICTED/NO TRESPASSING NOTICE placed on the front door by Denver Public Health & Environment. Per the Notice, licensed and certified industrial hygienists verified and approved by the DDPHE are needed to bring the property into compliance.”
The meth contamination isn’t the only thing problematic with the residence: there is also things that need attention, the listing explains, including:
The kitchen needs to be “gutted”
Kitchen appliances need to be replaced
Living room needs to be cleaned and re-tested
Bathroom needs to be cleaned and re-tested
Broken windows
Apparently, there is also “a $32,000 lien owed to the HOA that will have to be paid,” according to the listing.
Living in a home that was formerly contaminated by meth has the potential to be extremely dangerous to one’s health, The Bio Clean Team website warns.
“Methamphetamine is a crystal substance that when heated vaporizes, that’s how people ingest it,” the website says. “That vapor goes off and into surfaces and as it cools, it recrystallizes. This trace amount increases over time and in the case of homes that used to be meth labs, can leave incredibly unhealthy levels of the chemicals in the walls, ceilings, carpets – you name it. When meth is ‘cooked’ in a home these toxins spread everywhere.”
According to the website, specific harms include:
Sickness
Sinus problems
Babies not able to gain weight
Migraines
Skin burns
Breathing issues
Difficulty sleeping
