Feb. 1—JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Conemaugh Health System is furloughing 10 physicians in what is being called staffing structure changes.

"We are consolidating some services in a few of our practice locations, which will impact approximately 10 providers on our team," the system said in a statement to The Tribune-Democrat. "We are in the process of notifying our patients about these changes and working closely with those impacted on next steps."

The changes within Conemaugh Physician Group are designed to "better align with industry standards and coordinate the services we are offering with the local healthcare needs of our communities," the statement said.

Conemaugh did not immediately respond to The Tribune-Democrat's requests for an interview and for information about which areas of the hospital's practice would be affected. No information was provided about the providers' office staff and support staff.

The statement concluded with information on the system's view of its role in the community: "We consider it a privilege to serve the health-care needs of Johnstown and the surrounding region, and as we look to the future, we remain focused on enhancing quality, building a strong culture of safety and being a great community partner."
