Congratulations to Jody Knox on several accomplishments

Lakeview Christian Home’s Jody Knox was honored Wednesday evening as the Administrator of the Year by the New Mexico Healthcare Association. This is an extremely well deserved honor and Carlsbad is very fortunate to have Jody. Jody recently received the Carlsbad Department of Development’s perseverance award in Carlsbad as well, and, in 2021 she was selected as one of the state’s “best of the best.” Over the past few years, she has managed the difficulties of COVID-19 while continuing to expand Lakeview, including handling a merger with what had been Landsun Homes. She recently celebrated the opening of the Puckett Place at Lakeview, and Lakeview is also one of Carlsbad’s largest employers. Jody began working for Lakeview when she was 17 and became the organizations’ CEO when she was 35.

Carlsbad residents and their accomplishments are turning up in a new digital publication put out in the area. This publication, “Permian Proud” is being put out by Chevron’s Mid-Continent Business Unit. It includes features and photos from around the region. Carlsbad’s Carolyn Olson has already been featured in the publication, and there’s information about the upcoming Firefighter Challenge. For more information, please visit www.permianproud.com.

We’re just a week away from the Firefighter Combat Challenge and Charity Relay Challenge. Competitions will take place next Friday and Saturday. Thanks to a donor, there are no sign-up fees for teams to participate. The organization is still hoping for more entries in the charity challenge. Members of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and Carlsbad Department of Development went to Santa Fe this past week and had some very productive meetings with cabinet members. One especially welcome bit of good news is was an update on the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park. This beautiful state park is almost fully staffed, and more resources are also being provided to Brantley Lake State Park nearby. Special thanks to Sen. Ron Griggs, who dedicated a large portion of his capital outlay funding for improvements to the state park.
