Congressional District 5: KCRA 3 sits down with candidate Michael Barkley
It is an uphill battle for Democrat Michael Barkley, as he tries to win California's 5th Congressional District seat. After redistricting, the new District 5 includes parts of El Dorado, Madera, Mariposa, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Amador and Fresno counties. It is a largely Republican district – and Barkley is facing off with Republican Congressman Tom McClintock, who currently represents the former 4th Congressional District. But Barkley, who has run for Congress several times in the past, said he believes he can sway voters with his experience as a lawyer, accountant and computer programmer.
