Rep. Brandon Williams recovering following cardiac surgery

Rep. Brandon Williams, NY-22, is recovering following a minimally invasive cardiac surgery is currently in post-operation care, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse said Wednesday in a statement.

“Congressman Brandon Williams was transferred to the St. Joseph’s Health Cardiovascular Institute yesterday for a cardiac procedure after an examination at Crouse Health,” Meredith Price, senior vice president of Acute Operations, St. Joseph’s Health said in a statement. “This morning, our talented team of surgeons, nurses, and support staff performed a robotic heart bypass procedure, and we are pleased to say that it went exceptionally well.”

Price said the procedure involved minimally invasive treatment methods, which allow for faster healing, less pain and less scarring.

The 22nd Congressional District includes Syracuse and Utica, essentially combining retiring U.S. Rep. John Katko’s seat with that formerly held by U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney after redistricting.
