DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — Congressmen Jerry Carl and Barry Moore are headed to Daphne Wednesday night for the Congressional District 1 debate.

The Baldwin County Republican Executive Committee is hosting the 6 p.m. event tonight at the Daphne Civic Center. The candidates are aiming to be the Republican nominee ahead of the March 5 primary election.

Congressmen Jerry Carl (R-AL) and Barry Moore (R-AL), each seeking to serve as District 1 representative, will debate Wednesday night in Daphne.

Congressman Carl (R-AL) currently serves as Congressional District 1 representative, while Congressman Moore (R-AL) serves as the representative for District 2.

The candidates are debating who will be chosen as the Congressional District 1 nominee after a redrawn AL-01 map’s creation.

The debate, moderated by News 5 anchor Peter Albrecht; Jeff Poor, 1819 News; and Sean Sullivan,106.5 FM Talk Radio is free to the public. Those interested in attending can go to baldwincountygop.org to register.

Although the debate is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., doors will open at 4 p.m., according to an event news release.

Before the debate, there will be a meet-and-greet for all statewide and local candidates.
