Congresswoman Miller (R-WV) gives Smooth Ambler Distillery top marks

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — Did someone say West Virginia bourbon?

Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) stopped by Smooth Ambler Distillery on January 25th. The local distillery has built a name for itself in the backyard of the bourbon big boys across the state line in Kentucky. Representative Miller, who is a champion of local entrepreneurs and business, has been tracking the progress of the Greenbrier whiskey maker for some time and is impressed with its success.

“I’m so excited to be here to see the distillery. Wow! To have watched this occur in our district over the years. What a neat operation,” said Miller.

Small businesses represent the lion share of business in the Mountain State, and the Congresswoman says she keeps them at the center of her work representing the state.

“What I’ve just done is we’ve just passed a tax bill. And anything that has to do with taxes and business, we have over 95% of the businesses in West Virginia are small businesses. And we really speak for them. We welcome them any way we can. And so working on the tax structure nationally, as well as on a local level, is always very important. But this is the bread and butter of a community. It’s the small business.”

Whether you own or patron West Virginia’s many small businesses, I think we can all raise a glass to that!
