Connors Pool In Waltham Closed Amid Coronavirus Concern

WALTHAM, MA — Connors Memorial Swimming Pool in Waltham is closed until further notice after someone at the pool came into close contact with a person who had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation made the announcement Monday morning.

"DCR is in the process of having the facility deep cleaned and sanitized," a spokesperson said in a statement.

The closure comes amid a surge in cases across the country and as officials are warning of an uptick in Massachusetts. As of Sunday 1,261 people in Waltham had tested positive for the virus. Of those, 78 people had died, according to city data.

Connors had opened in late June with restrictions to keep the crowds down as part of Phase 2 of the state's reopening plan.
