May 19 meeting meeting

KEY ACTION Accepted the retirement resignation of head baseball coach Dave DiDonato.

DISCUSSION: DiDonato had served as the district’s Athletic Director and coach for four years, before stepping back at the beginning of the current school year from the athletic director role and focusing on coaching.

Superintendent John Zucal said of DiDonato: “Coach DiDonato has had a long and distinguished career, and we are certainly proud of all that he has accomplished at Conotton Valley. As a school community, we wish him all the best.”

In other business, Jonathon Stuck was awarded an administrative contract to serve as the district’s Technology Integration Specialist and Athletics Director. Stuck has been serving as the interim AD since the beginning of the current school year.

Stuck came to Conotton in 2016 as the band director and was tasked with rebuilding Conotton’s defunct band program. He has been working in the technology department for the past several years and is excited about the district’s growth.

Stuck’s contract runs from Aug. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2025, at the annual salary of $87,615.

OTHER ACTION

• Approved the 5 year forecast.

• Approve to renew the districts liability insurance through Ohio School Plan.

• Approved a donation from LAH & Associates to the volleyball program in the amount of $140, and a donation from the Conotton Valley Elementary PTO to the Elementary Principal’s account in the amount of $395.

• Approved a field trip request for peer tutoring students in grades 6-10 to Quaker Cinema on May 17.

• Approved a field trip request for students in 4th and 5th grade science to the Conotton Trail in Bowerston for a Science Spring Walk/Ecosystems on May 24..

• Approved a supplemental contract to Michelle Johnson as Lead Mentor for the 2022-2023 school year at a stipend of $1,953.15.

• Approved a five-year administrative contract to Danielle Caldwell as Jr./Sr. High Principal, effective Au. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2027.

• Approved a five-year administrative contract to Jenna Dress as Special Education Director, effective Aug. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2027.

• Approved a five-year administrative contract to Stephanie Garrott as Curriculum Director, effective Aug. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2027.

• Approved a three-year administrative contract to Carl McCrory as Elementary School Principal, effective Aug. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2025, at a salary of $90,000.

• Approved a three-year supervisory contract to Debbie Collins as Preschool Director, effective Aug. 1, 2022 through July 31, 2025.

• Approved a one-year limited contract to Ashlee Slutz, fourth/fifth grade social studies teacher, at a salary of $39,063.

• Approved a one-year limited contract to Derek O’Hara, elementary reading specialist, at a salary of $60,540.00. O'Hara will also be an assistant football and basketball coach.

• Approved a two-year supervisory contract to Kale Sellards as assistant maintenance.

• Approved the reassignment of Lindsay Caldwell from her current position as a Title I Specialist to a second grade teacher for the 2022-23 school year.

• Approved the Technology Integration Specialist Job Description.

• Approved the hiring of Tayla Barker as a long-term substitute teacher at a rate of $120 per day for the 2022-2023 school year.

• Approved the hiring of Diana Flickinger, Summer Learning Camp Director, at a rate of $43.75 per hour.

• Approved entering into an agreement with Kent State University-Tuscarawas for the placement of Skylar Raquel (Newton) Mendiola as a Student-Teacher for the 2022-23 school year.

• Accepted the resignation of Tiffany Gardner, Intervention Specialist, effective July 31, 2022, at the conclusion of her current contract.

• Approved maternity leave for Heather Wilson, first grade teacher, from Aug. 22, 2022 through Oct. 13, 2022.

• Approved the addition of Sydney Hines to the classified sub list as an aide, for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, pending completion of all state and local requirements.

• Approved the use of the high school softball field by the CV Youth Softball League for various dates beginning in May through July, 2022.

• Approved the list of graduates for the Conotton Valley Class of 2022.

• Approved the following certified contracts for the 2022-23 school year as follows: Emily Baker, Grand Barbour, Robyn King, Christa Moore and Josh Ulrich (4th) one year, Shanna Burkey, Alyssa Dillon, Adam Miller, Scott Minor, Kris Nign and Grant Provance (3rd) one year, Rod Bonamico, Lindsay Caldwell, Josh Carlisle, Christie (Herbik) Clayton, M. Pilar Gonzalez-Navarro, Giovonna Harmon, Kyleen Leifer, Curtis Love and Sidney Schloenbach (2nd) one year, Tiffany Gardner and Darla Kish for three year, Margaret Corp and Kelli Edwards for four year.

• Approve a quote from Vasco for artificial turf for the baseball and softball fields as follows: Baseball Full Field Turf $953,530, Softball Full Field Turf $505,475. Possible additional costs: provide engineering services for both fields in the amount of $75,000, storm water/drainage contingency in the amount of $100,000 and unsuitable soil/cement stabilization in the amount of $210,000.
