Conrad Weiser Hits for Hope Tennis Tournament begins Monday

Jun. 12—Multiple Berks players have earned top seeds for the 11th Conrad Weiser Hits for Hope Tennis Tournament that begins Monday at the Conrad Weiser Tennis Facility in Robesonia and runs through June 19.

This year's event has 238 players from ages 5 to 75 in 31 draws. It will benefit Sunflower of Peace, a charity committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian invasion.

Here are some of the highlights:

Conrad Weiser's Emma Perkins, a rising junior and two-time Berks Player of the Year, is the defending champ and top seed in Girls 18s singles. She is also the No. 1 seed in mixed doubles with Conrad Weiser rising sophomore Armaan Malik.

In boys 18s singles, Reading High rising junior Zach Schrader is seeded third, Twin Valley rising sophomore Dylan Bonds is seeded fourth and Malik is seeded eighth. Schrader, Bonds and Malik were All-Berks picks this spring.

In boys 18s doubles, Schrader and Malik are the top seeds.

In girls 18s doubles, recent Conrad Weiser grad Michelle Timothy and Isabel Wiggins, a rising junior for the Scouts, are seeded first. Reading High's Hailey Guerrero, a rising junior, and Valeria Sanchez, a rising senior, are seeded second.

In men's open singles, Wyomissing grad Andre Fick, who will be going for his sixth Hits for Hope title, is the top seed. Kaushik Das, a former Kutztown University standout, is seeded second, and Wyomissing grad Dan Trifoi is seeded third.

In mixed open doubles, Das and Perkins, the defending champs, are seeded first.

In women's open singles, Perkins is seeded second and Wyomissing grad Greta Koch is seeded third. The top seed is Isabella Franks, a former player at Marquette.

Franks and Perkins are the top seeds in women's open doubles.

In men's open doubles, Nolan Perugini, an Exeter grad and former Kutztown University player, and Ryan Berry are seeded first. They are the defending champs.

In men's 45+ doubles, Reading Don Hutchison and Wyomissing's Doug White are seeded first. Honey Brook's Matt Bonds and Mark Chafetz are seeded second.

In sister-sister doubles, Reading High's Hailey Guerrero and Hailee Guerrero are seeded first. Perkins and younger sister, Juliet, are seeded second.

Emma Perkins and her father, Phil, are seeded second in father-daughter doubles.
