Constantine, TR track teams compete at Don Lukens invite

Both the Constantine and Three Rivers track and field teams competed at the Don Lukens Invitational at Loy Norrix on Friday.

There were plenty of larger schools competing at the event, including eight Division 1 and six Division 2 schools. East Kentwood won both invitationals, posting 148 points for the girls and 123 for the boys. Portage Central placed second in the girls and fourth for the boys, Stevensville Lakeshore came in third for the girls while Loy Norrix was third for the boys.

Constantine finished fifth in the boy's event with 56 points, Three Rivers was 12th overall with nine points. The Three Rivers girls scored 34 points to finish eighth, Constantine finished 11th with 14 points.

Kylin Griffin ran to first place for Three Rivers in the 400 meter run at 59.77 seconds. Her time in the 400 was the only first-place finish for either school. Griffin came in second in the 200 meters at 26.01 seconds and third in the 100 dash at 12.43 seconds.

Kailee Jones finished fifth overall for the Falcons in the 800 run at 2:29.43. Three Rivers' Annabelle Gill ran a time of 16.86 seconds to finish fourth overall in the 100 hurdles.

Three Rivers' 400 relay team finished ninth. Tyra Pope, Rylea Summey, Calista Lockwood and Savannah Headley posted a time of 54.62 seconds in that one. TR finished fifth in the 800 relay. Lockwood, Amaria Currier, Summey and Headley raced to a time of 1:58.14 in that event. The two-mile relay team of Gabrielle Kilbourn, Cecelia Kangas, Paige Conatser and Megan Hammon ran a time of 12:59.32 to finish ninth.

Constantine's Caterina Thelen finished fourth in the shot put at 32-00.5 feet. Alizza Schieber came in eighth at 30-3 feet while Lydia Hilton of TR came in 10th at 28-8 feet. In the discus, Thelen finished fifth overall at 93-7.5 feet. Finishing 10th was Hammon at 80-8.25 feet.

For the boys, Constantine's Bennett VandenBerg came in second for the discus event at 142-10.75 feet. Jordan Pisco of TR placed fifth in the pole vault at 5-9 feet.

In pole vaulting action, Constantine's Brody Jones finished third at 11-6 feet. Constantine's Michael Featherstone and Collin Featherstone each surpassed 10-feet.

Constantine ran to second place in the mile relay. The team of Julian Hawthorne, Charles Morris, Collin Featherstone and Dean Topolski ran a time of 3:30.55.

Hawthorne, Caden Jackson, Logan Patmalnieks and Collin Featherstone ran to seventh place in the two-mile relay with a time of 8:57.97. Three Rivers' team of Marc Castlunger, Sully Zietlow, Troyer Serna and Johnathan Pant finished eighth overall at 9:07.35.

In the 800 relay, Constantine finished fourth. The team of Rushawn James, Morris, Collin Featherstone and Topolski ran a time of 1:34.54.

James ran to fourth place in the 300 hurdles at 44.75 seconds. Michael Featherstone was fifth at 45.33 seconds, Pisco came in eighth at 45.67 seconds.

Topolski ran to third place in the 400 at 52.14 seconds, he was fifth in the 200 run at 23.39 seconds. Hawthorne posted a time of 52.32 seconds in the 400, Morris finished seventh at 52.97 seconds.
