Constantine, TR and White Pigeon grapplers win twice

The Constantine wrestling team had no issues on Wednesday, winning a pair of SAC league matchups.

The Falcons beat Gobles 75-6 and Lawton 55-15.

In the matchup with Gobles, Constantine earned several wins by void. Picking up those victories were Preston Like at 120, Bear Geibe at 126, Carter Godfrey at 157, Dathan Smith at 165 and Julian Hawthorne at 175.

Winning with pins against Gobles were Jace Vavul at 113, Collin Featherstone at 132, Michael Featherstone at 138, Skyler Locker at 150, Troy Demas at 190, Gregg Reed at 215 and Bennett VandenBerg at 285. Brody Jones won his bout at 144 by decision.

Against Lawton, Constantine had void wins for Cohen Osborne at 105 and Demas at 190.

Winning by pin were Vavul at 120, Like at 126, Geibe at 132, Michael Featherstone at 138 and Smith at 165. The Falcons also received decision wins from Jones at 150, Godfrey at 157 and VandenBerg at 285. Reed won by major decision at 215.

Wolverine meet

Both Sturgis and Three Rivers wrestled at a Wolverine Conference meet on Wednesday evening.

The Trojans dropped matches to Paw Paw 47-30 and Vicksburg 61-18.

Against Paw Paw, Sturgis earned victories from Lola Barkby, Jace Kaufman, Kaiden Waldron, Juan Pablo Soto and Ishmael Cruz. In the loss to Vicksburg, SHS saw winners with Waldron, Angel Alvarez and Cruz.

Three Rivers won both of its matches. The Wildcats picked up wins over Paw Paw 53-26 and Vicksburg 60-14.

Talan Flowers (120), Larry Joe Hensley (126) and Drew McClain (132) all won by void against Paw Paw. Clinton Kaiser (106), Jak Monroe (113), Ayden Keller (138), Louis Smith (144) and Jacob Reynolds (285) won their matches by pinfall. Jeremiah Detwiler (157) won by technical fall.

In the matchup with Vicksburg, Three Rivers got a void win from Flowers at 120.

Winning by pin were Kaiser (106), Monroe (113), Keller (132), Detwiler (157), Jaxon Smith (175), Lloyd Ruesink (190) and Reynolds. McClain at 138, Smith at 144 and Landon Moreland at 150 each won their bouts by major decision.

White Pigeon wins twice

The White Pigeon wrestling team won a pair of matches on Wednesday.

The Chiefs beat Cassopolis 75-0 and Decatur 42-33.

In the win over Cassopolis, White Pigeon had void wins from Hunter Pant (113), Drew Johnson (120), Gavin McGrady (132), Jesse Fielis (138), Cole Jackson (144), Evan Rudloff (150), Luke Hinkson (157), Landon Peterson (175), Nate Irwin (190), Seth Miller (215) and Chaz Underwood (285).

Two bouts were actually held. Mazzy Lambert won by pin at 106, Caleb Lane won by an 8-2 decision at 165.Against Decatur, the match was much closer. It began with a decision win for Miller at 215. Lambert won by void at 106 and Pant picked up a pin at 113. Johnson also won by pin at 120 as did McGrady at 126 pounds.

White Pigeon’s next win came by Rudloff (pin) at 150. Lane also won by pin at 165 and Irwin picked up a decision win at 190.
