Constellation Energy Furyk & Friends first-round tee times, groups

The first round of the Constellation Furyk & Friends PGA Tour Champions event on Friday will begin at 10:05 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. off the first and 10th tees of the Timuquana Country Club.

Michael Allen and Paul Stankowski will hit the first tee shots of the tournament at No. 1 and 1996 U.S. Open champion and Duffy Waldorf will begin five minutes later at No. 10.

About an hour before that, 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus and 14-year-old Jack Jones of Jacksonville will hit ceremonial opening tee shots at No. 1.

The Champions Tour has packed the last six groups off the first tee with most of the tournament's biggest drawing cards, starting at 11:25 a.m., when two members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, two-time Players champion Davis Love III and Colin Montgomerie will play with two-time Senior major winner Paul Broadhurst.

At 11:55 a.m., tournament host Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker and Padraig Harrington will form a threesome of past Ryder Cup captains.

Anchoring the groups that start at No. 1 will be Jacksonville native David Duval, a 13-time PGA Tour winner who grew up playing golf at Timuquana, along with Justin Leonard and Notah Begay III.

Duval and Leonard are also past Players champions and all three have worked at Golf Channel on PGA Tour broadcasts. Begay is making his Champions Tour debut and Leonard is starting his third event.

In addition, the Furyk & Friends Celebrity Charity Challenge will begin at around 2:30 p.m., after the Duval, Leonard and Begay group clear the 10th green. Jaguars Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Boselli and former kicker Josh Scobee will go against former Pittsburgh Steelers Jerome Bettis and Ben Roethlisberger for $100,000 in charitable contributions.

The groups for the second and third rounds will be by score. Tournament gates open at 9 a.m. each day.
