The California Department of Transportation is alerting the public that construction contractors will perform sign and barrier placement on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass area.

Construction contractors will perform sign and barrier placement on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass area, California Department of Transportation announced.

Beginning Nov. 1, the southbound I-15 brake check area past Oak Hills will be closed for the duration of the project. The existing facility will also be closed.

Crews are placing signage to alert drivers about road work ahead.

Closures are dependent on the contractor receiving proper materials for each job function and weather, according to CalTrans officials.

The work is part of the southbound Cajon weigh station relocation project, which is expected to be completed in early 2025.

The project will relocate the weigh station and truck safety check area at Cajon. Crews will also be working behind k-rail barriers.

Commercial drivers are urged to plan ahead so they can safely merge and avoid traffic delays. Commuters are asked to adhere to construction work zone speed limit reduction signs.

Visit the Caltrans District 8's Facebook and Twitter accounts or the agency's website for additional updated information. Motorists can plan commutes and view live traffic conditions and planned lane closures by using Caltrans' QuickMap.
