Construction begins on new retirement community

Oct. 7—HENDERSON — A groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday marked the beginning of construction for The Bridges of Parkview, a new, all-inclusive retirement community coming to Henderson.

All-inclusive, in this context, means that the monthly bill for a customer doesn't fluctuate monthly depending on what amenities they use. In other words, "the number is what it is," according to ALG Senior Communications Manager Richard Gould.

The price of admission will be around $4,000 a month for private suites and $3,500 for semi-private suites.

Local business leaders, members of city and county government and representatives from the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce showed up to offer words of support for the project.

"This is an 80-bed facility. It will be 40,000 square feet. It's going to have a theater, beauty shop, an activity director and a private dining room for residents who have family visiting — and it will employ approximately 40 people," said County Commissioner Tommy Hester. "I always say that we should raise the tax base and lower the tax rate."

"This is much needed in Henderson," Mayor Eddie Ellington said at the event. "I have friends whose parents need a place to go, who would benefit from services like this."

"We're so proud and so glad to have you here — we're so grateful," said HVCC Board of Directors member Tanya Evans. "Thank you for believing in Henderson."

The Bridges of Parkview's development team echoed those sentiments.

"It is our job to see the dream, open this building up and make it happen on behalf of your community," said Director of New Development Deborah Richardson. "We are taking deposits now, and some people have already put down their deposits so that they can have the first choice of their rooms."

For now, the construction team will work on plumbing, electrical and foundation work. Their goal is to finish up construction in June of 2023.

"With the size of this facility, it will take us roughly 11 months from the time we break ground," said Carolina Commercial Senior Project Manager Dave Richardson.

Afterwards, staff will be hired and trained whilst state and local inspections conclude. The Bridges of Parkview hopes to welcome residents in late 2023.
