Construction coming to Greentree Road in Cherry Hill

Officials broke ground Oct. 28 on a $3 million project to improve Greentree Road in Cherry Hill, part of $50 million in road improvements throughout Camden County.

The reconstruction project will bring improvements to the county road from Marlton Pike to Evesham Township and the Burlington County Line. It's not the only major reconstruction project affecting Cherry Hill: A massive effort to improve Route 70 has been underway for months, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation estimates that project will take as long as four years.

Other projects in Camden County include a widening project in Winslow along Cross Keys Road; reconstruction of Blackwood-Clementon Road in Gloucester Township; reconstruction of the Kings Highway Bridge and Chews Landing Road in Haddonfield; rebuilding Evesham Road in Magnolia; and repaving of Burnt Mill Road in Cherry Hill.

Camden County Commissioner Virginia Ruiz-Betteridge described the work as "just the beginning of our efforts to rebuild our aging infrastructure.”

The work on Greentree Road will include milling and repaving of the street, construction of pedestrian ramps, sidewalks and driveway aprons. Stormwater mitigation measures including reset castings, inlets and manholes, as well as upgrades to the existing drainpipe system are also part of the project.

“Reconstructing this major thoroughfare that connects Camden County to our neighbor to the north in Burlington is critical to our highway infrastructure,” Cherry Hill Mayor Shin Angulo said. “This investment in Cherry Hill roadways will make the township safer for pedestrians, drivers and our overall community. In addition, the storm water enhancements in this project will make this section of Greentree more resilient against flooding and provide another barrier against severe storms.”
