Construction Continues on Temporary Hospital in Stony Brook, New York

Construction continued on a temporary medical facility on the State University of New York Stony Brook’s campus on April 13, with state officials preparing to relieve New York hospitals overburdened with COVID-19 patients.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers’ New York District (USACE-NY) shared this drone footage of the site, writing that the center would have 1,028 low acuity-COVID and non-COVID patient beds.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the death toll from the virus had reached 10,059 in the state by April 13, with over 195,031 people testing positive for the virus.
