Average gas prices in Florida dropped to $3.79 a gallon after eight weeks of decline, marking the lowest drivers are paying at the pump since March.

Prices dropped 14 cents in the last week, likely connected to dips in the crude oil market, which is being affected by threats of a recession, according to the weekly briefing from AAA the Auto Club Group.

Crude oil prices dropped to their lowest prices in six months, settling at $89.01 a barrel Friday afternoon, according to AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.

Domestic supplies of oil and gasoline, which is derived from oil, have grown and should continue to drive down prices, he said.

“The fuel market seems to be locked in bearish territory. Florida drivers in some markets are beginning to find gas prices in the $3.60s, if not lower,” Jenkins wrote in his weekly briefing. “The state average could very easily drop to that price point in the next week or two. However, it's worth remembering that the fuel market has proven to be extremely volatile this year, and trends can change rather quickly if something reignites concerns about fuel supplies.”
