Danville Coronavirus Cases; Contra Costa Back On State Watch List

DANVILLE, CA — Coronavirus marched through the 4th of July weekend leaving grief and pain in its wake. Conta Costa County reported 4 new deaths on Monday, and another 218 confirmed cases. The county’s death toll now stands at 85, while total cases have risen to 3878.

The seven day total for deaths in the county is 9. The one week increase in cases: more than 900.

Hospitalizations are also increasing, an important metric used by the state of California to approve local plans to reopen businesses, parks, zoos, and other facilities. Right now there are 59 people hospitalized with coronavirus in Contra Costa County, and 456 in the Bay Area.

Over the weekend we learned that coronavirus patients from one of the hardest hit counties in Southern California, Imperial, are being transferred to hospitals here in the Bay Area. Stanford Hospital and UCSF acknowledge taking patients. Other hospitals have not publicly disclosed if they have any transfers.

Contra Costa County was added back to the state watch list on Monday because of surging cases. The only other Bay Area counties currently on the watch list are Marin and Solano. Nearby Monterey is also on the list.

The majority of coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in people in the 31-40 age range: 726 people. The next age range is 21-30: 717.
