Contract for Ohio State's Ryan Day has him among top paid NCAA, Big Ten football coaches

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day's new contract extension puts him at the top pay level of all coaches in the NCAA.

In four seasons with the Buckeyes, Day has compiled a 34-4 record with wins in the 2020 Sugar Bowl over Clemson and the 2021 Rose Bowl over Utah.

Day's deal, which is pending approval from the university’s board of trustees this week, is worth $9.5 million in annual compensation, according to a news release.

No official numbers have been released since USC is a private school. USA TODAY reported that Riley made $7.6 million at Oklahoma last season, which leads to speculation that Riley's pay is among Saban, Swinney and Day's contracts provided the Trojans increased his salary after poaching him.
