Contract worker dies after accident at Club Car in Evans

EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) – An investigation is underway after an accident at Club Car.

Details are limited but we do know a contract worker died following an accident at the plant on Washington Road in Evans.

Columbia County Coroner Keith Cox has identified the victim as 21-year-old Alyssa Drinkard of Grovetown.

According to the incident report provided by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, an employee that was working with Alyssa says Alyssa dropped her Air Pods below the conveyor, and when she got under the machine to get them, she was caught by the chain that moves the conveyor.

The report continues the employee stating that due tot he way Alyssa was pinned, she was not able to get Alyssa out so she called for maintenance to come and shut the machine down, and they began taking it apart once the machine was down and called 911.

According to the incident report, EMS and the fire department arrived on the scene to begin life-saving measures due to Alyssa not breathing and freed Alyssa by cutting the metal frame from around the conveyor pulling her out.

Authorities say once Alyssa was pulled out, they said she still had a pulse and transported her to Doctors Hospital for further treatment, where she later died.
