Contractor found dead at Baton Rouge ExxonMobil chemical plant

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An ExxonMobil contractor was found dead Sunday at the Baton Rouge chemical plant site.

The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office said they were called to plant on Scenic Highway at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, May 5, where Danny Ellsworth, 33, was found dead. The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy.

An ExxonMobil spokesperson released the following statement.

“On Sunday, May 5, a contractor was found unresponsive in a Chemical Plant warehouse and was evaluated and treated by onsite first responders until EMS arrived.  Multiple attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful. The cause of death is unknown. We are greatly saddened by this tragic event and express our deepest sympathy to his family.”
