Two-and-a-half years of construction work at the interchange of routes 140 and 24 in Taunton recently came to a grinding halt — with no indication of when it will restart, according MassDOT records.

Construction contractor Cardi Corporation, based in Rhode Island, suspended operations on the project on Oct. 27, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Project Tracking System.

East Bridgewater police sergeant arrested on drunk driving charge in Raynham

An East Bridgewater Police sergeant was arrested in Raynham Saturday night on drunk driving charges.

Thomas E. Flint, 50, of Bridgewater, was arraigned Monday morning in Taunton District Court on charges of drunk driving, negligent driving, a marked lanes violation and speeding.

Rehoboth man and RI woman dead in apparent murder-suicide, DA's office says

A 72-year old Rehoboth man shot and killed a 77-year-old Tiverton, Rhode Island, woman and then himself at his Rehoboth home in an apparent murder-suicide last Saturday morning, the Bristol County District attorney's office said in a written statement.

Rehoboth Police found the victim and suspect deceased dead while doing a well-being check at 162 Summer St. in Rehoboth, the DA's office said.

Police had a received a 911 call at around 10:55 a.m. last Saturday from a relative of the victim's saying she had been on phone with the victim when she heard shouting and then the phone disconnected.

A preliminary investigation determined that the suspect, Omar Bradley, 72, of Rehoboth, shot and killed the victim, Barbara J, Cruz, 77, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, and then himself, the DA's office said.
