TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man already serving a life sentence for murder was given two additional life sentences on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to the 1983 rapes and murders of two Tampa women, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

Abron Scott pleaded guilty Wednesday to raping and killing 19-year-old Barbara Grams and 41-year-old Linda Lansen in 1983, according to officials.

Lansen’s daughter was 7 years old at the time of the killings, and she spoke during victim impact statements about how his actions changed the trajectory of her life.

Amos Robinson, who was also charged in the rapes and murders, faces the death penalty if he’s convicted, officials said. Robinson is already serving three life sentences for unrelated charges, according to records from the Florida Department of Corrections.

DNA evidence linked Robinson and Scott to the murder of Grams, but not before a Tampa man, Robert DuBoise, wrongfully spent 37 years in jail before being exonerated in 2020.

Then-State Attorney Andrew Warren announced Robinson and Scott as the suspects in the killing on the day he was suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

In February, Tampa City Council voted to approve a $14 million settlement with DuBoise for the wrongful conviction.
