A docuseries airing on conservative media streaming platform DailyWire+ that revisits the Manitowoc-area murder case popularized by Netflix's "Making a Murderer" premieres Friday.

"Convicting a Murderer" aims to include evidence that was not addressed in "Making a Murderer," according to a news release from DailyWire+.

Both shows spotlight the murder of Teresa Halbach, a 25-year-old freelance photographer from Green Bay. On Oct. 31, 2005, Halbach went missing after shooting photographs on assignment for a magazine at Avery's Auto Salvage, a family business in Two Rivers.

Steven Avery, 43, was arrested and convicted of Halbach's murder, along with his teenage nephew, Brendan Dassey, who was also convicted of sexual assault and mutilating a corpse.

It wasn't Avery's first time sentenced to prison — he spent 18 years behind bars for a sexual assault he didn't commit, and was released after DNA evidence exonerated him in 2003. Since his arrest for Halbach's murder, Avery has argued he is innocent and was framed.

The Calumet County case received international attention after "Making a Murderer" premiered in 2015. While the show garnered supporters who advocate for Avery's and Dassey's releases, some critics say it is biased and did not portray all evidence in the case.
