Convoy for Kidz 2023 raises more than $38,000

SOMERSET ― The annual Convoy for Kidz event, a local fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, celebrated its second consecutive year under its new name with success.

The Convoy for Kidz event raised $38,115.25. These funds will directly contribute to fulfilling the wishes of deserving children, providing them with hope, joy, and cherished memories during challenging times.

Previously known as Trucks for Smiles, this event gathered the community for a day filled with fun, generosity and support, raising essential funds to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Held June 10, Convoy for Kidz showcased the power of community unity, attracting approximately 70 vehicles and an array of more than 200 donated baskets and live auction items.

The Convoy for Kidz event was filled with various attractions including vendors, music, games, a basket raffle and a live auction. The highlight of the convoy was a captivating procession of registered vehicles parading around Somerset, with the lead vehicle symbolizing the dedication of its supporters.

"We are thrilled to witness the overwhelming support and enthusiasm our community has shown for Convoy for Kidz," said Bud Colflesh, event organizer. "Every year, we see this event grow, and it's heartening to know that our efforts directly impact the lives of children and families facing critical illnesses. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this success."

Convoy for Kidz is gearing up for its next event, June 8, 2024, at The Georgian Place in Somerset. With the continuous backing of sponsors, volunteers, and the local community, the event aims to build on its legacy of making dreams come true for children in need.
