'How to Cook Everything' author Mark Bittman set for White Room event

WORCESTER - Celebrated author and food journalist Mark Bittman will be a guest at a “Taste + Talk” event scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. April 4 in the White Room at Crompton Collective, 138 Green St.

Local chefs who will prepare recipes from Bittman’s book, “How to Cook Everything Fast” include Jared Forman of deadhorse hill restaurant; Jay Midwood of Pasta Mani; Pooja Vishal of Namaste Woo and Tanuj Neupane of Momo Palace. All restaurants are located in the city.

Tickets are $110 per person for taste and talk; and $142 for taste, talk and a signed copy of “How to CookEverything Fast” at 20% off. Bittman, a graduate of Clark University, is a former columnist for the New York Times and author of 30 books. He has been writing about food and cooking since 1980, with the debut of his “Minimalist” column in the Dining section of the New York Times in 1997. He also was a Times opinion columnist and lead food writer for The Times Magazine.

In addition to his popular “How to Cook Everything Fast” book series, Bittman published “The VB6 Cookbook,” afollow-up to “VB6: Eat Vegan before 6:00,” a No. 1 New York Times best seller. He is a special advisor on food policy at Columbia University’s School of Public Health, where he teaches and hosts a lecture series, Food, Public Health and Social Justice.
