Cook scores team-high 22 points, Illinois completes 11-point comeback win over Minnesota

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) — Illinois women’s basketball (9-10; 3-6) trailed Minnesota by 11 points heading into the locker room, but outscored the Golden Gophers by 16 in the second half to grab the 73-68 win at the State Farm Center on Sunday.

“We’ve been talking about finishing and really just saying, ‘We’re going to win this game. And whatever it takes, today we are winning this game. It’s in the last five minutes, this last battle, it’s ours,'” said Illinois head coach Shauna Green. “These guys did that. They had the confidence, they had the execution, and they had the effort. It was really a fun thing to watch.”

“Having a mindset, being determined, doing anything to win,” said Illinois center Camille Hobby. “There was like five minutes left in the fourth quarter and I looked around and everybody was so focused and so ready.”

Illinois will head back out on the road, taking on Michigan at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
