Cooke GOP announces March '24 primary candidates

Dec. 14—Cooke County Republicans will have choices in a couple of countywide races in next March's primary, but most office holders are standing uncontested.

The busiest race will be in Precinct 1, where incumbent Commissioner Gary Hollowell faces three contestants: preacher Casey Fain and businessmen Phil Elmore and Dax West. Meanwhile, in Precinct 3, incumbent Adam Arendt faces a challenge from Adrian Anderle.

The remainder of countywide incumbents will not face primary opponents, including:

Cooke County Attorney Ed Zielinski;

235th Judicial District Attorney John Warren;

Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington;

Cooke County Tax Assessor Brandy Ann Carr;

Precinct 1 Constable Mark Westbrook;

Precinct 2 Constable Chuck Owen;

235th Judicial District Judge Janelle Haverkamp.

Cooke County Democrats have just one declared candidate for a countywide office next year. Local attorney Emmanuel Albarado will challenge Haverkamp for the 235th District judgeship in next November's general election, according to party chairman Sherman Moore.
