Cookie company that's been sweeping the nation has signs up for new store in Rockford
Cookie fans who have been driving two hours or more to indulge in their favorite fresh-baked brand may soon be able to cut that commute down to nothing with the opening of a Rockford location.
Observant weekend shoppers would have noticed signs of a Crumbl Cookies store coming to Rockford. The doors and windows of a storefront in the 6100 block of East State Street were plastered with the company name and logo.
The sign on the door reads "Crumbl Cookies coming soon."
Crumbl Cookies representatives have yet to respond to an email sent to the company's headquarters Sunday evening.
Cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley launched Crumbl Cookies in 2017 with their first store in Logan, Utah, specializing in fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

In 2018, Crumbl Cookies introduced its now famous weekly flavors rotation, which quickly had fans walking out of Crumbl Cookies by the droves with the store's famous rectangular pink cookie boxes filled with the latest cookie concoctions.
In the past five years, Crumbl Cookies has opened more than 800 bakeries in the United States, including dozens in Illinois. But none in Rockford. The store on East State Street would be the company's first in the Rockford area.
Popular flavors run the gamut from brownie batter, sea salt toffee and chocolate peanut butter to cinnamon roll, banana cream pie, classic pink sugar, birthday cake and blueberry crumb cake.
Cookies, which are about 4.5 inches in diameter, typically cost anywhere from $4 to $5 each.
According to a 2022 report from Datassential, a food and beverage research company, Crumbl is the fastest-growing chain of dessert shops in the United States and the fourth-fastest growing food chain in the country.
The company has nearly 7 million followers on TikTok.
The Rockford location bearing the "coming soon" sign is located in a shopping center just east of Skecher's Shoe Outlet and Portillo's and west of Pearle Vision and Jimmy John's.
Information about when the store is opening or how to apply for a job was not available Monday morning.
