Two children and one adult were sent to the hospital Sunday after their hotel room microwave burst into flames.

Escambia County Public Information Officer for Public Safety Davis Wood told the News Journal that Escambia Fire Rescue responded to the Quality Inn on the 6900 block of Pensacola Boulevard where they saw smoke coming from a first floor room.

"A fire was found in a microwave in one of the units," Wood said. "It was brought under control around 1:31 p.m. (and) fully extinguished by 1:47 p.m."

Wood told the News Journal the fire began due to a "cooking-related" incident. Due to medical regulations, Wood could not disclose the nature of the injuries the children and adult suffered from the fire. Their current conditions are unavailable.
