What’s Cool At School? – Elementary School Robotics team going to the World Championships

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – We’ve told you about High School robotics students from Las Vegas headed to the World Championships in Dallas.

Did you know some elementary kids are going, too?

Students from Piggott Elementary have been practicing and practicing and practicing, even on weekends.

Teacher/Coach Amy Blue says it’s the team’s first year of competition.

She’s proud of the students for not only winning the state competition, but also developing new friendships:

“It’s great watching them learn to be team players. And watching them grow.”

Fellow Piggot Teacher and Co-Coach Scott DeVore:

“Going to Dallas, they’re going to get the chance to work and collaborate with teams from around the world.”

The kids are pretty excited about it, too, like Edan:

“We can meet so many new people from different parts of the country and we can learn what their robots can do.”

While Lily put it very succinctly:

“I just really like doing robotics.”

The kids build and program the robots, just like their older counterparts. Good luck, Panthers!

The Piggot team is hoping to raise $6,000 to fund that trip to dallas next month.
