Cooler with 30 pounds of meth disguised as orange Gatorade found in Missouri, cops say
What looked to be a close resemblance of an icy orange-flavored sports drink in a Gatorade cooler was not as it seemed.
“This is NOT the kind of ICE you put in your sports drink,” Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F said on Twitter.
This “ice” and “orange Gatorade” combination was actually “30 pounds of methamphetamine in a solution,” the state troopers said.
Authorities say they found the meth-filled cooler after stopping a speeding driver headed eastbound on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County. During the traffic stop, K-9 Rony smelled narcotics in the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and alerted the troopers.
The drugs were seized, officials say, in addition to $1,132 in cash.
The driver, who was not identified by state troopers, was driving from Las Vegas to Philadelphia before being pulled over about a thousand miles from their destination.
Montgomery County is in east central Missouri, about 80 miles west of St. Louis.
