Cooper graduate has big game, highlight-reel catch against top-ranked team in FCS

Cooper graduate Dante Hendrix had an outstanding game for the Indiana State University football team Saturday against North Dakota State, the No. 1 team in the national Football Championship Subdivision of NCAA Division I.

Hendrix had seven catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He topped the highlight reels for the day with a juggling catch for a 36-yard gain late in the first half, setting up a TD for the Sycamores that gave them a 13-10 lead at halftime. Hendrix caught a long pass over a defender and was able to control the ball and grab it as he was falling to the ground.

NDSU came back to win 31-26 at ISU’s stadium in Terre Haute, dropping the Sycamores to 1-4 overall.

Hendrix has the ISU school record for consecutive games with a catch, extending it to 31 today.

The redshirt senior currently sits with 162 career receptions, 34 behind the team’s all-time record of 196. Last week, he passed the mark of Robert Tonyan Jr., who has been in the NFL for the past six seasons, currently with Green Bay.

Hendrix moved up to second place all-time in career receiving yards, passing Tonyan and Terry Bell Saturday. He has 2,106 yards, 279 behind the existing record of 2,385.

Hendrix had a record-setting career for Cooper on the football field and was a key starter on Cooper's 2017 state runner-up team in basketball.
