Cop resigns from NYPD after he’s arrested again on child sex abuse charges
A city cop accused of exposing himself in front of young girls has quit the NYPD after he was arrested Monday on new child sex abuse charges, police said.
Shaun Frazier, 40, a six-year NYPD veteran, was accused of subjecting an 11-year-old girl to oral sex, exposing himself and showing her a pornographic video of himself, cops said.
The alleged abuse happened sometime between April 12 and April 30 of 2017.
Frazier, a Brooklyn resident, was first arrested in 2019, on charges he exposed himself and for making explicit sexual advances toward a friend’s 10-year-old daughter while babysitting.
Earlier this month, he was indicted in Brooklyn Supreme Court on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, after similar incidents involving two more child victims in 2018, police said.
Police arrested Frazier on the latest charges in Bensalem, Pa. on Saturday. He waived extradition and was returned to Brooklyn on Monday to face charges of criminal sexual act, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Frazier was assigned to the NYPD’s Building Maintenance Section.
His lawyer, Douglas Rankin, said he regularly visits Pennsylvania because he frequents casinos nearby, and wasn’t trying to avoid arrest.
“I’ve surrendered him twice already. If they would have just called him, we would have had a third surrender,” Rankin said.
Rankin, who has said the earlier allegations were all connected and all false, said he expects his client to be exonerated.
“My client is obviously presumed innocent,” he said. “These charges are from three years ago, and the outcry is extremely suspect at best.”
Frazier was awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn criminal court.
