“I have been blessed to work with the families that I have worked with and to work with the team that I worked with this year,” Senk said. “Having those opportunities created the opportunity for individual awards.

“When we talk team, we always talk about how it is not about individual accolades. It is about what we can accomplish as a team, and obviously that worked for us this year. But if you perform as a team you are bound to receive those individual accolades because playing well as a team provides the platform for you to be the best individual.

“For me, this is surreal. This is an unbelievable accomplishment. I think this is something that every coach strives for, but you don’t necessarily look for. It is surreal to me and I am super proud. I am not big on recognition. Sometimes, I like to fly under the radar, but this is really something I am proud of.”

Senk was also selected as Coach of the Year by the Suburban League American Conference and the Greater Akron Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association, the Regional Coach of the Year by United Soccer Coaches and the Ohio Coach of the Year by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

Senk is set to receive his National Coach of the Year award at the United Soccer Coaches annual awards banquet at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia on Jan. 13.
