The CopperDog 150 is still on. Who will be racing?

CALUMET, Mich. ( WJMN) — Organizers for the CopperDog 150 sled dog race say the event is still set to take place at the beginning of March. All but one of the top 10 finishers in 2023 are coming back.

The international competition sent a Thursday release, alerting fans of the events they have planned and how they can participate.

The race includes 150-, 80-, 30-, and 15-mile stretches. The start of the big race is set for March 1 at 7 p.m. in Downtown Calumet.

The top 10 racers in the CopperDog 150 qualify for a cut of the $17,900 prize purse. Of last year’s winning racers, only last year’s 8th place racer Frank Holmberg is listed as having dropped out of the race.

Last year’s champion Ryan Anderson, who finished in 2023 with a time of 10:18:36, is set to return along with 2nd and 3rd place finishers Michael Bestgen and JR Anderson.

Other returning finishers include Rita Wehseler, Joanna Oberg, Tom Bauer, Sarah Tarlton, Bucky Tippett, and Mary Manning.
