Corbin man arrested for assault, burglary

Dec. 6—CORBIN — A local man is facing multiple charges in connection to a domestic call that Corbin Police responded to last week.

Kevin Barnett, 44, of Corbin, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree assault (Domestic Violence), menacing, endangering the welfare of a minor, third-degree terroristic threatening, second-degree disorderly conduct, and second-degree criminal mischief.

Those charges stem from Corbin Police Department Patrolman Jarrett Carr and Sergeant Jeff Hill responding to a Corbin apartment complex after a complaint had been made.

After arriving, Ptl. Carr was welcomed at the door by a bloody victim. Following an investigation, it was determined that an assault had taken place in the proximity of small children, which ultimately led to the arrest of Barnett.

Pleading not guilty at arraignment, Barnett is scheduled to appear in Whitley County District Court at 9 a.m. on December 11 for a preliminary hearing. He remained lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center at press time.
