As the Corcoran Group marks 20 years in the Palm Beach real estate market, Marcia van Zyl has joined the agency as its new senior managing director of the South Florida division. She will be based primarily in the Palm Beach area.

The job was previous held by Palm Beach-based John Hackett, who left the agency in July after leading Corcoran’s local operations since 2018.

Corcoran President and CEO Pamela Liebman announced van Zyl’s appointment this week.

Van Zyl, who has specialized in real estate investment strategies, was most recently with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty as the managing broker overseeing the Fort Lauderdale and Plantation offices. There, she was recognized for driving growth through strategic agent recruitment, training and brand management, Corcoran’s announcement said.

She will work with Managing Director Kerry Warwick to support agents across Corcoran’s offices in Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach/Gulfstream, Palm Beach Gardens and Hobe Sound. Van Zyl’s goals will be agency growth, recruiting and expansion, according to the announcement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marcia to Corcoran,” Liebman said in the announcement. “She has an incredible track record, an impressive background and she’s known as a highly respected real estate leader. I am confident that our agents will achieve even greater success with her support and guidance.”

In a prepared statement, Van Zyl said she was “truly honored to begin this new chapter with Corcoran” and described the agency as “a dynamic company rooted in the timeless values of service, integrity, market expertise and neighborhood fluency.”

New York City-based Corcoran also this week said Regional Vice President Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has overseen the agency’s downtown Manhattan operations, will expand his oversight to include the South Florida market.

In the announcement, Liebman said Fitzpatrick had done “an amazing job driving business results for downtown Manhattan” and has a “deep understanding of the Palm Beach market.”

Fitzpatrick said in a statement he is “excited to use my skills in a broader way within the Corcoran network and welcome the opportunity to work closely with Marcia and our Palm Beach agents,” Fitzpatrick said.

With more than 4,500 agents in urban, suburban and resort markets across the country, Corcoran has over 100 offices, including its locations in South Florida, New York City and the nearby Hamptons, according to the company.

The Corcoran brand comprises locations owned by a subsidiary of Anywhere Advisors LLC, which was formerly Realogy Brokerage Group, as well as independently owned and operated franchised offices.

The Corcoran Group entered the South Florida market in October 2003, when it bought the old Palm Beach-based Paulette Koch Real Estate Inc. The next year, Corcoran acquired another Palm Beach agency, the old McCann Coyner Clarke Real Estate Inc., and later expanded with other offices.

Before he left Corcoran, Hackett served as broker for eight offices in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, overseeing about 260 agents.

Hackett left the agency to oversee sales efforts for the Custom Estate Homes and Preferred Builder Program for estate homes at Panther National, an in-the-works residential golf-course community that is part of the massive Avenir master-planned development in Palm Beach Gardens.
