ROCHESTER — 2023 marks 110 years for Cornerstone VNA, a local nonprofit home health and hospice organization, and to celebrate this important milestone, they are embarking on a special giving challenge. Through their 110 Giving Challenge, their goal is to get 110 donations in the last 110 days of 2023.

All donations received through this challenge will support uninsured patients, as well as programs with the greatest need. This includes critical programs that receive little to no insurance reimbursement, such as Palliative Care, which provides care for patients with chronic illnesses, and remote monitoring and support for high-risk patients through their Telehealth program.

According to Erika Lee, Advancement Director at Cornerstone VNA, “Throughout our milestone anniversary year, we have been recognizing our healthcare heroes through history and celebrating our continued efforts to go above and beyond for those we serve.” Lee adds, “This special Giving Challenge is an exciting way to honor our 110th year and will help keep us moving forward in providing the very best care to our patients of all ages.”

As an added bonus, FedPoint, administrator of large-scale insurance and benefit programs, has partnered with Cornerstone VNA to provide $11,000 in matching funds. This means that all donations will be matched, effectively doubling gifts made through the challenge.

Julie Reynolds, President/CEO of Cornerstone VNA shares, “We have developed a wonderful partnership with FedPoint, and we are thrilled to have their generous matching support to double donations made to Cornerstone VNA.” Reynolds continues, “With the kind support of FedPoint and our donors, I know we can reach our goal of 110 donors in 110 days and raise $22,000 and beyond!”

To participate in Cornerstone VNA’s 110 Giving Challenge visit cornerstonevna.org/110-challenge or send a check to Cornerstone VNA, 178 Farmington Road, Rochester, NH 03867, and include 110 Giving Challenge in the check memo.

Dartmouth Health is designated as a leader in the delivery of telehealth services for older adults

LEBANON – Dartmouth Health, a national leader in telehealth, pledged its commitment to advance age-inclusive telehealth principles and guidelines that will define the future virtual care for older adults and their family caregivers. By making this pledge, Dartmouth Health joins a robust list of healthcare leaders who are committed to delivering high-quality, equitable and person-centered telehealth for older adults. Dartmouth Health Connected Care plans to integrate this new age-inclusive framework into its telehealth offerings to best serve older adults.

“Our region has one of the oldest populations in the nation, many of whom reside in rural areas. Making this commitment to help older adults throughout our region access the care they need through telehealth is a natural step for Dartmouth Health,” said Kevin Curtis, MD, Medical Director, Dartmouth Health Connected Care.

Grounded in practicality, the age-inclusive telehealth principles and guidelines were spearheaded and vetted by the West Health Institute and leading experts in geriatrics, telehealth and consumer advocacy. To supercharge this movement, West Health launched a new Center of Excellence For Telehealth and Aging (CE4TA) with the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center and University of Virginia Department of Geriatrics. The Center of Excellence provides free, practical tools, extensive, vetted resources, and a community of like-minded experts to help organizations enhance their telehealth offerings and showcase their achievements in improving telehealth care for older adults.

Older adults often face a confusing, unresponsive and uncoordinated care system and these hurdles were amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, federal and state leaders expanded payment for telehealth services. In 2020 alone, Medicare-covered telehealth visits exploded by 63-fold. Leading health systems with telehealth platforms learned that older adults can and will use this type of care, however intentional human-centered design efforts are vital to ensure all customer segments – particularly older adults with complex care needs – can meaningfully use telehealth going forward.

The Dartmouth Health Connected Care Center for Telehealth is honored to be recognized for its commitment to shaping the future of age-inclusive telehealth to meet the needs, values and preferences of older adult and family caregivers of today and tomorrow. This is one more way Dartmouth Health is achieving its mission to improve access to care to residents of northern New England.
