Coronation Street has hinted that corrupt councillor Len Cameron could finally be brought to justice tonight (February 24).

Len was the secret financial backer who was funding Griff Reynolds' extremist group, but he managed to keep his involvement under wraps after the villain was arrested last month.

Since then, Len has changed tactics by trying to support fellow councillor Maria Connor with her policies to provide help and support for refugees.

However, Wednesday's episode saw Len's luck run out, as Griff gave up his name in a meeting with policeman Spider Nugent in the prison visiting room.

With Len still unaware of this, Friday's visit to Weatherfield sees him plan some positive PR for the big moment that he hands over funding for the refugee centre.

Len has claimed that he had a change of heart because he wants to bring the community together after Griff's terrifying bomb plan and Blake's evil attack at Speed Daal.

Maria notices Len's ulterior motive when he invites the press to photograph him handing over the cheque – clearly intent on boosting his personal profile.

Suddenly though, Spider and another police colleague rush onto the scene in a car.

Have the police finally gathered enough evidence to prove Len's guilt?

In the scenes airing earlier this week, Griff initially hoped to secure a reduced sentence for his own crimes if he helped the police to bring down Len.

Spider stayed one step ahead of Griff, coaxing him into giving up Len's involvement without signing any formal agreement. He then told Griff that he'd receive no leniency with his sentencing.

The police also managed to find Griff's burner phone, containing many of his messages to Len.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
