Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has shared that her son Charlie was taken to hospital after an accident at Alton Towers.

Posting on her Instagram Stories, Flanagan detailed her trip to the Alton Towers Resort, with children Charlie, Delilah and Matilda. The actress said the family had a great time, with Delilah particularly loving the CBeebies Land Hotel, but while visiting a water park Charlie slipped "really, really badly".

"It was awful, it was absolutely horrendous," Flanagan explained. "I had to get an ambulance and he had snapped his collarbone into two. It was horrendous, so I spent like six hours in the hospital at Stoke.

Flanagan went on to thank the paramedics, nurses and doctors who helped Charlie, saying they were "amazing". "Thank you so much," Flanagan added. "That was awful, just horrible, horrible, horrible. To see your child in pain was just horrendous, but he’s ok.

"There is not much you can do for it, apparently like it mends by itself, but it’s horrible, when you’re a mum and you wish you could take pain away from them."

Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, recently shared that she underwent a breast augmentation in January.

"This was something I wanted to do for a really long time and by doing so I've really got my confidence back," Flanagam explained, adding that she "wanted to get them done pretty much straight away" after breastfeeding Charlie.

"I had to wait for six months after feeding and then I went for it in January. I don't regret one second of my breastfeeding journeys they were precious times," she continued.

"I was a little bit nervous I was worried they were going to be too big for my frame but they are so perfect for me and so in proportion."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
