Coronation Street's Steve and Tracy McDonald consider giving up their businesses tonight (May 19) as the reality of Amy's legal fight hits home.

Steve and Tracy are backing their daughter every step of the way after Amy was recently threatened with a lawsuit by Aaron Sandford's father Eric.

Earlier this week, Amy went public with a blog post which revealed the full story of her recent ordeal with Aaron.

Amy took the blog post down when Eric threatened legal action. However, when Eric and his lawyers went a step further by demanding a retraction and apology, Amy refused to meet their demands.

In Friday's episode, Steve and Tracy meet with lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey to discuss the case.

As the financial implications become clear, Steve and Tracy realise that they'll have to sell their businesses to fund the legal fees.

Tracy arranges a valuation on the florists, while Steve also considers his options for his share of Street Cars.

Meanwhile, Eric and Aaron meet up with their own solicitor.

Eric and Aaron also receive some warnings over the risk of taking the case to court.

Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy, recently spoke about her character's decision to publicly expose Aaron's true nature.

Amy had found it difficult to see Aaron carrying on life as normal after he raped her following a night out.

Elle explained: "After [Aaron's girlfriend] Mia shutting her down and not listening to her, not believing her, Amy thinks: 'Yeah, actually, I've tried to warn the people who are close to him, I've tried to tell people and nothing's happened, so I'm going to post it as everybody should know'.

"She's gone through that initial feeling of shame, initially she didn't want the street to know, she didn't want anybody to think of her differently or to connect her name and rape in the same sense.

"But when Mia delivers that final blow up of 'I don't believe you', Amy's just like 'I'm done, I'm going to tell everybody whatever the consequences are because the world has to know'."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
