Coronavirus: 64 Westchester County Deaths Reported
WHITE PLAINS, NY — After reading a few names of Westchester County residents who have died from the new coronavirus, County Executive George Latimer said, at a news conference Wednesday, that those were just a few of the names we have lost. "This virus that we face is invisible," he said. "At the end of the day, it's not about the statistics; it's about human lives."
To date, 64 Westchester County residents have died from COVID-19, Latimer said.
There are 10,683 people in the county confirmed to be positive for the coronavirus. There are 83,712 statewide, according to state numbers.
Westchester is second only to New York City, at more than 47,000, for positive cases.
Latimer said there are 268 people who are hospitalized with the virus.

He said the county was going to suspend reporting individual community numbers of positive cases.
"We don't get the full picture of those," Latimer said, because of a lag in the amount of time it takes for the state to notify the people of their status.
He said the county was going to try to fix the problem in reported numbers and make sure local governments get accurate accounting.
As of Tuesday, the state said there were 9,967 confirmed positive cases in Westchester, and individual community numbers Latimer was able to report only numbered 3,152, which is only about 32 percent of the total number.
