MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Village officials in Midlothian have confirmed the first case of the new coronavirus in the village. The Office of Mayor Gary L'Heureux confirmed the case on Tuesday. In Oak Forest, the Daily Southtown reports four residents of the Bjorklund House have also tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Midlothian person's age or gender was not shared. Their condition wasn't known either as of Wednesday.

Overall, Midlothian residents and businesses have been praised by L'Heureux for their cooperation with the state of Illinois' "stay-at-home" order enacted this past weekend.

"I would like to thank the residents, the businesses and the Village employees for the cooperation we have received during this time," he said. "We are a strong and proud community and we will get through all of this together."
