Coronavirus Cases Up; Library Workers Laid Off: The Week In News
BIRMINGHAM, AL — The state saw a spike in new coronavirus cases this week, especially in Jefferson County. Although overall new case reports are still much lower than they were in July, the spike Thursday included twice as many new cases in the state as Wednesday's total.
Also in the news last week was an announcement by the City of Birmingham that more than 150 Birmingham Public Library employees throughout the city will be furloughed, and that ne library branch will close permanently.
