Coronavirus: As New York passes 10,000 deaths, Cuomo says ‘the worst is over’

Here’s a recap of the global response to the coronavirus pandemic for Monday, April 13, 2020.

Nearly 2 million cases of coronavirus were confirmed worldwide, with the death toll nearing 120,000. The United States remained the epicenter of the virus, with more than 582,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 23,000 deaths.

A U.S. Navy sailor assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt died of COVID complications at a military hospital in Guam. Groups of governors on both coasts announced plans for coordination to begin reopening their regions.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will hear oral arguments by telephone beginning next month.
