Coronavirus: Global case total passes 4 million

Here’s a recap of the global response to the coronavirus pandemic for Monday, May 11, 2020.

More than 4.1 million people worldwide have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, and over 282,000 have died. Spain reported its lowest daily death toll in two months. In Germany, however, infections are increasing again. In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the U.K. would begin reopening despite a rising death toll in the country.

In the U.S., there have been over 1.3 million confirmed cases and more than 79,000 deaths.
