Coronavirus Emergency Food Bank Coming To St. Mary's April 23

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Northern Illinois Food Bank, along with Catholic Charities, is organizing an emergency food bank in the parking lot of St. Mary Immaculate Parish this Thursday, April 23. St. Mary Immaculate is located at 15629 S. IL Route 59 in Plainfield. The food bank will operate from 5 to 6:30 p.m. or until supplies run out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parish officials told Patch via email that there will be enough food to serve 250 families. As demand for food is high, officials suggested that families wishing to make use of the food bank should plan to arrive by 4 p.m.

The food bank will operate as a drive-thru, so no family receiving food from the food bank will have to exit their vehicles. Food bank workers wearing protective equipment will place the food directly into patrons' cars. Patrons are still encouraged to bring boxes or bags for their own convenience.
